Ficus Audrey – Elegant Indoor Tropical Tree
Ficus Audrey (Ficus benghalensis), also called Audrey Fig or Banyan, is a striking indoor tree that brings a touch of tropical elegance to homes and offices. Its smooth light trunk supports lush, velvety green leaves with a subtle fuzzy texture, forming a graceful canopy that adds calm and sophistication to any space. Safe for pets when handled carefully, Ficus Audrey fits beautifully in living rooms, bright offices, or study areas.
Plant Features
This tropical tree grows 5–10 feet indoors and up to 65–100 feet outdoors in ideal conditions. Its aerial roots may develop over time, creating a distinctive look reminiscent of its native Indian banyan trees. Ficus Audrey thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct morning or evening sun. It prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil and benefits from occasional balanced fertilizer during the growing season.
Care Tips
-
Light: Bright indirect light; east, south, or west-facing windows are ideal. Avoid harsh midday sun.
-
Water: Allow the top 2–5 cm of soil to dry before watering. Keep soil evenly moist without waterlogging. Self-watering pots simplify maintenance.
-
Temperature & Humidity: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C) and moderate to high humidity. Avoid drafts or cold spots.
-
Maintenance: Rotate monthly for even growth. Prune in spring or summer to control size, encourage branching, and remove yellowing leaves.
-
Propagation: Easily propagated via stem cuttings in well-draining soil. Maintain humidity until roots develop.
Design & Placement
Ficus Audrey makes a stunning focal point in indoor gardens, standalone displays, or paired with other tropical foliage. Its rich green leaves complement wooden décor, neutral interiors, and contemporary living spaces.
