Shangri-La Pothos (Epipremnum Shangri-La)
Mystical and eye-catching, Shangri-La Pothos enchants with its curled, fenestrated leaves and a vibrant mix of emerald, cream, and golden variegation. This tropical vine brings a sense of intrigue and texture to indoor spaces, transforming shelves, hanging baskets, and plant walls into living art. Its sculptural foliage makes it a standout addition for plant enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Epipremnum Shangri-La is a hardy, low-maintenance vine that can climb poles or trail elegantly for more than five feet indoors. Its deeply twisted leaves create a striking, almost jungle-like appearance, while its variegation shifts and deepens as the plant matures. With proper care, this Pothos thrives for years, adapting to medium or bright indirect light, although growth slows and leaf coloration may fade under low-light conditions. Direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent scorching, especially because the curled leaves present a larger surface area.
For watering, allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Overwatering is the main challenge, as excess moisture can cause root rot. Use well-draining potting soil enriched with perlite or orchid bark for optimal root health. During spring and summer, feed every 4–6 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength; reduce feeding during winter.
Temperature and humidity are important for peak growth: maintain indoor temperatures between 65–85°F (18–29°C), avoid cold drafts below 55°F (13°C), and provide moderate to high humidity. Leaf cleaning and occasional pruning above nodes encourage fuller growth, while healthy cuttings root easily in water or soil for propagation.
In interior design, Shangri-La Pothos pairs beautifully with other tropical plants such as monstera or philodendrons. Its trailing or climbing habit adds dimension to plant displays and enhances the overall indoor greenery aesthetic.
