Aglaonema Mary Ann – Elegant Evergreen Foliage
Aglaonema Mary Ann is a stunning indoor plant, admired for its glossy, elongated leaves featuring a mix of deep green and creamy-silver patterns. Known as the “Chinese evergreen,” this resilient tropical plant from Asia adds a calm, sophisticated touch to any home or office.
Plant Characteristics
Botanical Name: Aglaonema Mary Ann
Size: 18–24 inches (45–60 cm) tall, 21–23 inches (54–59 cm) wide
Leaves: Lance-shaped, dark green with irregular silver-green markings along the midrib; upright stems form a compact, bushy structure.
Flowers: Rare indoors, small spadix-type blooms, sometimes followed by red berries. Flowers are mostly decorative and can be pruned to focus energy on foliage growth.
Care Tips
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light; tolerates low light but growth slows. Avoid strong afternoon sun.
Temperature: Prefers 68–77°F (20–25°C); minimum 55–64°F (13–18°C). Protect from drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Humidity: Enjoys high humidity; mist leaves in dry conditions or place the pot on a pebble tray with water.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist during spring and summer; allow top layer to dry slightly in fall and winter. Avoid waterlogging.
Soil: Well-draining mix of leaf mold, peat, sand, and charcoal, pH 6.0–6.5.
Fertilization: Feed every two weeks during active growth with balanced mineral or organic fertilizer; reduce in autumn and winter.
Propagation: By division of offsets or stem cuttings in spring–summer; maintain warm, moist conditions for rooting.
Aglaonema Mary Ann is low-maintenance, air-purifying, and ideal for low-light spaces. Watch for mealybugs, scale, or spider mites and treat promptly. Avoid overwatering to prevent fungal problems.
